Monthly Spending – May 2023

Summary

Welcome to our May spending post! Our total spend for the month was £4,972 or $5,968

All in all, this was a fairly typical month for us. We had a few large car expenses, with the insurance and tax being due. Otherwise, everything went fairly smoothly!

We break our main expenses down into broad categories starting with the big 3; housing, food and transport. Everything else falls into the entertainment category, with any large inclusions explained in detail.

Food

Our May spending on food was £647/$777. This includes everything on our supermarket shop receipts for the month.

Transport

Our spending on transport includes a few large items this month. Our insurance and tax were up for renewal as we pass the 1 year anniversary of moving to the Caribbean!

Entertainment/Misc

Our spending on misc items was fairly normal this month.

There aren’t really any areas where we would look to reduce our spending here so we’re quite happy! We really enjoy food so we’ll continue to eat out – which is very expensive here!

The nursery fees are an unfortunate necessity to facilitate Mrs Way’s work.

CategoryAmount ($)Notes
UK Phone Bills$16
Student Loan$295
Nursery Fees$368
Eating Out$332
Presents$109

That’s All for Now, Folks!

Considering the average US household spend is $5,111 we’re very happy with our spending. We live on a very high cost of living island!

See you next month!
