Monthly Spending – November 2022

Summary

Welcome to our November spending post! Our total spend for the month was £5,185 or $6,324

Throughout November we had 2 sets of visitors, so we spent quite a lot on eating out and doing trips etc! Everything is really expensive here, so it very quickly adds up.

We break our main expenses down into broad categories starting with the big 3; housing, food and transport. Everything else falls into the entertainment category, with any large inclusions explained in detail.

We break each of these categories down in the following sections, giving detail for any large expenses.

Our November spending is the new normal for us, now that we’re settled at our higher rent level.

Food

Our November spending on food was £732/$893. As explained previously, this includes everything on our supermarket shop receipts for the month.

Transport

November saw us topping up with petrol a bit more than usual. Hopefully we can get back to a lower total now our visitors have left.

CategoryAmount ($)Notes
Fuel$120
Total ($)$120
Total (£)£98

Entertainment/Misc

Our November spending in this category is high due to our visitors. We did lots of eating out, boat trips etc which was very much worth the extra cost to us!

We also had some medical costs in November – Baby Way was ill and we took him to see a private doctor. We also bought some medicine for him. Despite it’s faults, we miss the NHS!

We’re heading to New York in December, but hopefully after that we can settle back down to more usual spending levels!

CategoryAmount ($)Notes
UK Phone Bills$14
Student Loan$196
School Fees$368
Eating Out$644

That’s All for Now, Folks!

Considering the average US household spend is $5,111 we’re very happy with our spending, considering we’re on a very high cost of living island! Long may that continue.

See you next month!
