Life Design for 2021

We have previously written about ‘Life Design’ and our approach to creating a life we are happy to live. As with everything, our ideas have begun to evolve and develop. For me, this has been strongly influenced by personal and world events of 2020.

I was originally going to write a review of 2020 from my perspective. After thinking about it I have decided to write a forward-thinking post instead. I want to consider how living through 2020 has affected my/our aims for the future.

Frugal Food – Grow Your Own

Our Coronavirus Journey – Part 3

There has never been a better time to begin simulating The Good Life and ‘grow your own’!

The current Coronavirus lockdown has given us all the opportunity to spend more time in our gardens. We’re using this time to rediscover our green fingers!

With many supermarkets low on lots of fruit and veg, having your own supply has become more important than ever.

All you need is some decent compost that is not at an exorbitant price! We found B&Q particularly useful as they’re offering a very efficient collection service, with social distancing thrown in!

My ‘Monthly’ Money Saver

4 Reasons to Switch to a Menstrual Cup!

Mooncup

Us girls have a lot to put up with once a month. For those lucky few, periods come and go without too much disruption to their lives. Unfortunately, I have never been that lucky. Ever since mine started they have been a monthly ordeal. Either very heavy, very painful, extremely emotional or often all three!! I am sure many women experience similar.

On top of this, being on your period can be expensive! There are definitely frugal ways of approaching this but often the cheaper sanitary options are a lot less comfortable or effective. Having tried lots of options through the years I have settled very happily on the ‘menstrual cup’.

Thought Experiment 6 – Miss Way

Unpopular Opinion

This is the latest in the series of SavingNinja‘s Thought Experiment posts.

This is an idea to get bloggers to immediately respond to a question and all post their answers on their blogs. You have to write the first thing you think of and can’t pre-plan or do any major editing.

If you want to see previous versions see SavingNinja’s archives.

This is the first Thought Experiment I (Miss Way) have participated in so please take it easy on me!

So on to the question!

A different opinion is somewhat frowned upon in our clique based society, but some of the greatest minds of all time were outliers. They weren’t scared to go against the grain and stand up for what they believed in. So, for this Thought Experiment, I’d like you to reveal yourself: What opinion do you have that most of your peers do not share?

Frugal Fitness

We Love Exercising!

Staying physically fit is something that is important to both of us. It fits really well with those who are seeking financial independence. If you aren’t at your physical best, you won’t be able to enjoy the retirement you work so hard for!

As mentioned in A Way to Less……. Spending! we are always looking for more ways to be frugal and found that reducing our fitness costs was an easy way to do this.

For many, the cost of fitness can be huge! The fitness industry must make so much money out of all those people with unused and unwanted gym memberships! Don’t get me wrong, there are many people that use their gym membership in a cost-efficient way and really benefit from it, but there is a very large proportion of the population that don’t!

Sanity, Saving & Singing!

“A smile is a facelift in everyone’s price range”

Tom Wilson

Music teaching can be such a rewarding job.

The privilege of introducing music to young children and witnessing the joy it brings them never fails to make me smile. Nothing can compare to the power of an assembly hall full of children singing a song they love, as one. It does wonders for your mood on a rainy Monday morning and makes it all worthwhile!

Singing is good for your mental health!

I qualified as a secondary school music teacher in 2012. I now enjoy a portfolio career as a peripatetic music teacher. My current timetable looks like this: Continue reading “Sanity, Saving & Singing!”
