Summary
Welcome to our September spending post! Our total spend for the month was £5,455 or $6,273.
We’re generally expecting to be closer to $5,000 in a ‘typical’ month, so this was a bit above our expectations. This is mostly due to booking a trip to New York!
We break our main expenses down into broad categories starting with the big 3; housing, food and transport. Everything else falls into the entertainment category, with any large inclusions explained in detail.

Entertainment/Misc
Our September spending in this category is high because we booked our first proper holiday since moving to the Caribbean (we aren’t counting our trip to the UK)! We’re going to New York for just under a week in December. It will be quite an expensive trip in total so is likely to affect the next two month’s spending too! Neither of us have been to the US before and we’re quite excited to go and be tourists again, especially with Baby Way in tow. We haven’t been on a holiday overseas since our big Africa trip, before he was born!
We also paid for Mrs Way’s phone bill since moving here. It’s on Mr Way’s company plan, so we’ll pay in big lumps whenever we get round to paying off the balance! This is for about 6 months worth.
Category | Amount ($) | Notes |
---|---|---|
UK Phone Bills | $14 | |
Student Loan | $185 | |
School Fees | $184 | |

That’s All for Now, Folks!
Considering the average US household spend is $5,111 we’re very happy with our spending, considering we’re on a very high cost of living island! Long may that continue.
See you next month!
