Summary
Welcome to our November spending post! Our total spend for the month was £2,219.
Firstly, we’re sorry for how late this post is. Work permit applications for our new jobs have taken up a significant amount of time and stress recently. We’ve also been selling our house. This hasn’t left much time for much else, including the blog!
As mentioned above, we decided to sell our house. We didn’t want the hassle/stress of maintaining a property in the UK while trying to set up a new life elsewhere. It might not be the best financial decision, but certainly isn’t as clear cut as many suggest (“house prices always go up” etc).
We’re aiming to write several posts documenting our move process in the coming weeks and months. Fingers crossed we’ll have more time for this in the new year!
Anyway, that’s a brief update, now back to the November spending.
We break our main expenses down into broad categories starting with the big 3; housing, food and transport. Everything else falls into the entertainment category, with any large inclusions explained in detail.
Category | Amount | Notes |

Housing | £1,210 | See below |
Food | £358 | See below |
Transport | £120 | See below |
Entertainment/misc | £531 | See below |

We continue to be very happy with our energy supplier, Octopus Energy. Our energy is from 100% renewable sources too which is a great bonus. If you are interested, click through this link and you will get £50 and so will we! It can be hard to find a decent energy company but we really do recommend Octopus.
Food
Our November spending on food was £358. As explained previously, this includes everything on our supermarket shop receipts for the month.
Transport
Not too bad this month. Most of this was for Miss Way’s commute.

Fuel | £120 | |
Total | £120 |
Entertainment/Misc
Our November spending includes a fairly high total in this category. Our Christmas shopping began, as well as paying for several things relating to our move abroad.
We bought a new car seat to take with us (apparently we can take this on the plane for free!). We also subscribed to Microsoft 365 Family. The main reason for this was because it gives us 1TB of cloud storage for up to 6 people. This is incredibly valuable to us considering we need to digitise our whole lives!
